Hello, my name is Keegan/silver593. I'm a college student in Texas who has become quite interested in modeling. I have been doing tons of 3D modeling for the past few months and have a few questions about the structure of a product that one may wish to upload.
Above you can see a low poly tree assets blend I have been working on for a little while now. I plan to add many more trees including more autumn trees, a large Halloween tree(Similar to the large snowman tree, it will be quite detailed.) And I shall add some rainbow trees plus more.
Question 1: Would it be appropriate to upload two trees where the difference between them is their color? If you look at the center row of trees you can see that I have put two of each tree, one set has light colored leaves and the other has a darker set. If I decide to sell this set, I do plan to state in the description that many trees have alternative colors.
Question 2: When I was making this assets pack I wanted visually categorize the models by placing them on a surface. As you can see, I have placed the trees on some small islands with water in between them. The ground and water make up two objects. Should I remove these objects if I upload the pack? The two objects are properly named of course to let one know what they are. One object is named "Ground," and the other "Water."
Question 3: My last question is one about material organization. On the snowman in the upper right, his hat and his coal buttons are the same shade of black and same material. All of the objects coloring is done through materials because I wanted the models to have a clean cartoony look. So should I have two separate materials, one for the coal buttons and one for the hat even if they are identical in color? I have one material named "Coal_Buttons," and one named "Top_Hat_Black." I had originally thought that perhaps I don't want too many materials that were similar but I did not want a material called "Black_Material" assigned to both the coal buttons and top hat because I like my materials named so that others know what it is connected to.
Thank you in advance for reading and answering my questions.
