Thank you, @jmiguel.hdez, for the compliment! I really appreciate it. Unfortunately, I probably wasn't ready to take on such a big character like that troll when I started off, but it was a learning process (a long learning process) and I definitely learned a whole lot despite my lack of knowledge on the subject. I probably ought to do what you're doing and practice, but I'm too stubborn The truth is that I'm a bit of a pessimist, and I don't believe in myself as much as I should. I've found time and time again that if I just try something that I think is too big (like the troll or that bark texturing I did a while ago) and set my mind to it, I find out that it's not as hard as I had imagined. It's kind of the whole 'mountains out of mole hills' thing, if I can borrow the expression. For me, anyways.
It's funny you should say that you can't do anything from memory, because I think I'm exactly the opposite. Pretty much everything I do is out of my imagination. Which is an unfortunate thing, because I really ought to use references more often. However, I also struggle with coming up with details when I'm just making stuff up, so, again, I guess I really should start using references more often.
